Update
for 1861 Tennessee Civil War Lodge of Research
May 1, 2010
The Stated Meeting of 1861 Civil War Lodge of Research was held at the Grand Lodge on May 1st, 2010. The principal activity was the presentation of the Charter by Most Worshipful Grand Master Tom Boduch, who also sat in the East for the meeting. Several other Grand Lodge Officers also participated in the meeting.
Numerous Masons petitioned for membership, increasing the total to 45.
The rest of the meeting was devoted mainly to housekeeping concerning such items as By-Laws, Charter, meeting sites, and other details. Due to the inclement weather, a tour of a historic site was not possible.
The July meeting was set to be held at Rockford Lodge No. 469 in Rockford, Blount County, TN. The focus of the meeting will be the Sultana Memorial in the cemetery at Mount Olive Church, near Rockford. After the Stated meeting, a talk will be given by the president of the Sultana survivors' descendents group, and a tour will be taken to the site, weather permitting.
Future meeting sites and dates:
July 17, 2010 Rockford Lodge No. 469, Rockford, TN
October 16, 2010 West Tennessee (site TBA)
